Ides Of March
(2004)
Warned was he of that fateful day
Actions against him, acts of betrayal
Who wonders what he thinks among his peers that know no depth
As he looked through himself did he wonder, or purely just ponder
Blurs of people moving about him, streams of sunlight glaring in
Cursed in his thoughts that one day, someone may, no... just betray
What does one have to justify & prove just to be
Was it proof of this fate when devils drift free
Conjuring of simple thoughts 'that will never be me!'
Can he not hear them laughing, could he hear them cheering
Plotted to perfection, a simple plan to rip into his emotions
Death comes in many forms, how could he miss the sly grin on their faces
In all its entirety & splendor, he had to give credit for the well mastered plan
Walking perfectly into their sights a perfect pace lead on demand
As the realization of all that was and is slips between his ribs
A passing thought, A monetary trickle of reality opens his eyes
Those you trust, confide in, will in the end use it all against you
Though he was struck down, never defeated, nor did they cause his demise
The sayers called upon him to listen
Beware The Ides of March
